welcome to superior high school

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. There have been, and will continue to be, many changes as we begin and progress through this school year.

Looking back (and forward at the same time), SHS continues to provide options for students to earn college credits while in high school. We offer a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and dual credit courses (high school and college credit). AP students take exams which are scored 1-5. A score of three or higher typically translates to college credit. Last year 212 students earned a score of 3 or higher on at least one AP exam.

SHS has a tradition of supporting academic excellence and preparing students for the next steps in their lives. Last year the School District of Superior Scholarship Foundation awarded $269,000 in scholarships to 141 (approximately 48%) graduating members of the class of 2017.

Superior High School is in the process of going through a major renovation. While this has caused us to make some adjustments, we are committed to continuing to provide a safe environment and the high quality education that our students deserve and the community expects. We appreciate your understanding that some things will be different, and that changes will continue to happen throughout the year. We will keep you posted as things progress.

You will notice other changes at SHS as well. While the main number to reach the high school by phone remains the same, everyone at the high school has a new extension number this year. This was due to the district switching to a new phone system.

I encourage you to read the rest of the Spartan News to get more information about everything happening at SHS. I am excited to be coming into such a terrific school and district and I am looking forward to a great year!
